What is Idebenone?
Some will have you believe that Idebenone is the closest thing to the “fountain of youth” you can find. Sure, it seems to have its health benefits but we definitely won’t go so far as to say it’s some type of miracle drug. You know us better then that. We do, however, agree that it does have its benefits. Idebenone has been around since the mid-to-late 70’s. Only then it wasn’t used to specifically to reduce the effects of age.
Originally it was used (and I should say still is) to help combat heart problems and other health related issues, Eventually, it was found to help eliminate wrinkles from the skin and from that point it has been a staple for more and more anti-aging creams and products.
How does Idebenone work?
Essentially, Idebenone is a bioengineered replica of the antioxidant CoEnzyme Q10 which the body produces to help provide several key functions including producing energy production and aiding in the inner molecular transport system of the body. Over time this transportation process breaks down or becomes less efficient, which can lead to many health ailments including the deterioration of the skin– the aging process. By infusing the body with a steady supply of Idebenone it’s believed that the body will use these replica antioxidants to reenergize itsself, keeping it running at more efficient pace, consequently helping the body to maintain its youthful look. See how some consider this the “fountain of youth?” Yea right. It’s won’t keep father time from calling but it could, at least, slow the process down.
A common misconception about wrinkles is that they’re caused by old age. That not entirely true. Age is a leading contributor but they are also caused by other factors in play including the sun. The sun’s ultraviolet rays can have a nasty effect on the skin encouraging the formation of free radicals in the skin. A standard tool in fighting this problem is to introduce more antioxidants into the skin, hoping to reduce the levels of free radicals in the body. Idebenone also acts as an antioxidant and has been proven quite effective in reducing the formation of those free radicals.
Final thoughts
The cost for Idebenone based products is typically around $30 to $100 bucks. That probably is a little bit more then what you’d normally pay for a run-of-the mill anti-aging fighter but that’s common with most ingredients backed by years of scientific research. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as the “fountain of youth” but there are ways to slow down the process and this looks like a solid and safe way to help in that fight.
